IPL
What is IPL?
IPL (intense pulsed light) is a non-surgical skin treatment that uses broad spectrum light pulses to improve the appearance of the skin. It can safely and effectively treat an array of skin concerns including rosacea, dilated capillaries, hyperpigmentation and acne, as well as overall skin rejuvenation.
How does it work?
IPL sends multiple wavelengths of light into the skin. These light pulses are absorbed by pigments (like melanin in dark spots or haemoglobin in blood vessels), which then break down or fade over time. Your body naturally clears away the treated pigment, leaving the skin looking more even.
Preparing your skin for IPL
It is important to prepare your skin for the treatment to ensure that not only we can go ahead with the treatment, but that you get the best possible results.

Caring for your skin after IPL
IPL is one of the more minimal downtime treatments when it comes to laser. This means you shouldn't experience any significant skin issues, however you may experience some of the following side effects, depending on the treatment. This will be fully discussed with you by your therapist in your consultation. This can include redness immediately post treatment, swelling and minor bruising when treating vascular concerns, itching and warmth, sensitivity and a darkening of pigmentation/microcrusting in hyperpigmentation treatments. If any of these occur, please just continue to follow the strict aftercare and contact your therapist for guidance.
